That Kid Can Write

WE are a nonprofit based in NYC with the AIM TO OFFER CHILDREN THE AGES OF 6-12 FREE CREATIVE WRITING LESSONS EITHER ONLINE OR IN PERSON! we work to NURTURE A LOVE FOR WRITING WHILE STRIVING TO REDUCE RELIANCE ON AI GENERATED WRITING BY ENCOURAGING CREATIVITY AND ORIGINALITY!

As of now, classes will be taught by teen instructors with a strong-suit for creative writing. We will go over basic English grammar and formality, how to create a storyline using various narrative writing techniques, developing writer's voice, and how to explore diverse modes and genres of writing. In the future, we hope to invite established authors who grew up in NYC to lead workshops and share their craft with our students! Additionally, we want to hold book drives in partnership with local libraries and donate the collected books to under-resourced schools and community programs across NYC.

That Kid Can Write is founded by nyc teens with the passion for writing and reading, working to make creative expression accessible and meaningful to young writers in nyc!

Kimberly Koo (16)Kimberly Koo is a rising junior at Brooklyn Technical High School. She is the founder of That Kid Can Write, a nonprofit that teaches creative writing to kids; the co-founder & Editor in Chief of Mangosteen Magazine and is the Arts & Entertainment Editor of her school’s newspaper, The Survey. She has also been honored by multiple writing awards, most notably, Scholastic Art & Writing.
